Project Wednesday ~La De Dah Finale

Project Wednesday again, huh? This week I thought I'd go through my final pages of my La De Dah Smashbook, can you believe it? I'm sort of surprised it took this long actually, I'd really not realised how many pages I'd had to do to complete this book XD
Let's jump straight back in then with this two-page spread:

 photo PW1501.png photo PW1501.png
These were about my spanish holidays I took around September/October. (Last year was a really good year for holidays...) both Face's family and my Dad wanted us to go with them, so we went twice! First we went to Mallorca, on the left. It was a good holiday we spent not doing too much, just checking out the town we were in really. I still managed to collect a bit of stuff for this page though. The right hand page was the Ibiza/Eivissa page, where we did practically the opposite with a lot of touring around the island in a hire car. I even went swimming in the sea! On the right hand page is a bracelet I bought to wear for a while, but it quickly wore down to copper and turned my wrist green...so now it lives in here XD

 photo PW1501.png
This page was done towards the end of the year about all the places we'd been on daytrips that I didn't really have enough stuff for to make a whole page X3 I used my instax camera quite a bit on these trips and so I lined them up overlapping slightly, but they lift so you can see the pic under it too x3 The trip to Gloucester was really cool actually, I did have quite a bit from that trip so it was a bit of challenge to get it all on the one side XD

 photo PW1501.png
This page was completely an odds and ends page. Right at the end, as I was so close to finishing the smashbook I had so many random bits of paper hanging out in the pages waiting to find a home. I didn't really know what to put on this last page anyway so I did a 'true' smashbook on it and just smashed it all in! It has everything from pictures I drew, cut out or took to a DVLA notice that I don't own my old car anymore XD

 photo PW1501.png
The finale is a little boring- the very last page and back cover I didn't do anything to, though in retrospect I'm not sure why not. The pocket is full of other pictures I couldn't find a proper home for, to maps and stuff that were just too big to fit in.

And so that was my 2014 La De Dah Smashbook. I hope you enjoyed taking a more detailed look at the pages as much as I enjoyed creating them. I guess I'm going to have to look into a more detailed view of another book now. Which would you like to see more of? My Thai holiday smashbook, This is Not a Book by Keri Smith, or something else? Let me know x3

Project Wednesday ~More La De Dah Smashbook

This Project Wednesday I didn't want to bring back the Thai Smashbook just yet, so I thought I would go through a few more pages in the La De Dah book, it's been about a month, ne?

Trip to Tokyo
This was one of the last pages I did as I was waiting for myself to be finished with my Japanese travel book so I could work out what scraps I had left over to put in here. When I saw that the travel journal wasn't going to be done before this I sorted some stuff out just to make this page x3 A lot of the stuff is from the Tokyo Skytree but I also managed to find bits and pieces from all over our trip.
I managed to use stuff I got from Japan for pockets and then put in some travel sheets from a couple of the smash pads from extra details. This page also has built in photo pockets so I put a postcard I sent to myself in one and train station stamps in the other, then decorated them with leftover stickers I had from the skytree and Tokyo tower.

Face's Birthday
Face's birthday followed and a few of the staff at work made him a card to give him when we all visited the pub in the late evening XD Earlier in the day just the two of us had been to play mini golf in the new pitch that had opened at the local town park, we were the only ones there so we played each hole twice XD
I got the card and golf scoresheet to put in the photo pockets, and used some lined index cards with bunting washi to write on and decorate the page a little more. I also took out my instax during the day and got a shot of him unwrapping his presents first thing, then later playing minigolf x3

Autumn AnticsGraze Page
This first page came about as an amalgamation of most of the things I got up to around September-November that weren't really enough to make there own page of, but I still wanted to record, so I've stuck in a business card from the tattoo shop I got got my forearms tattooed at, my ticket to go see Seether in Birmingham, and part of a chocolate box that one of my favourite customers gave to the staff when he left for another job.
The other side, which is split with a graze box lid as i liked the autumn theme to it is about all the Graze boxes I'd received up to that point. I really don't like what I did with this page, I tried to use an envelope that came with my first Graze box to hold all the little notes that come with every box, then got some small pictures I printed with my zink printer to show a few, but then I couldn't figure out a place for the pictures in a way I liked, without covering up the picture on the lid of the box page or the picture on the ladedah page that i really liked and wanted to keep. I ended up putting them to one side of the lid as you can see and using cleaned graze pot lids to make sure the page on the right wasn't completely blank under the envelope, and as they're see through it was an effort to preserve the page I liked underneath...yeah it didn't really work out ;d

This page was done for my longest term fandom- My Little Pony! I knew I was going to miss out on the 2014 convention and was pretty gutted, so I gathered together all the stuff from the 2013 con and stuck it all in with some writing about my collection and missing out ;p This page didn't really have many design elements to it, I pretty much did just 'smash it all in'! I did try and make little bits a bit bolder though with using washi tape to bring them out the page more.

This page was a year in the making as we did a night every month with another couple from work, going out and trying restaurants we'd not tried in the local area but heard a lot about. It kinda lost it's point towards the end of the year as we ended up getting takeaways a couple of times and staying in. Still, I managed to collect enough stuff from the various places we did visit to make this page X3 I got some business cards, which most places do, and even pikey'ed a napkin from Zizzi's just cause it had their name on it. Sometimes I wonder where the line is between smashing memories and just plain hoarding...

Telford ComicConBirmingham ComicCon
I'll leave you with this two page spread- about the ComicCons I attended first in Telford, then in Birmingham! I had a great time at both, there's just no beating a good con x3 I used stuff that I bought when I was there, like the Isabelle print, and also cut up the con magazine, because we went to see the Red Dwarf panel x3 On the other page I mostly stuck in business cards i collected from the stalls I either bought from or wanted to buy from and put in the receipt from the japanese restaurant we went to after to complete our evening x3 Well, I hope you enjoyed another more detailed look at this book, hope you liked these pages! If you found them inspiring let me know! X3

Project Wednesday ~La De Dah Smashbook

Another month, another look in at the La De Dah Smashbook! We'll jump straight in, shall we? This page was for a concert we went to, and the dossing around Birmingham we did beforehand XD We went to see Patent Pending and discovered an awesome new band too warming up the crowd were People on Vacation, fronted by the lead singer from Bowling for Soup! It was a brilliant show, and a good day all round actually ^^

This page was about some home ideas for when I eventually move out. I'm pretty comfortable where I am at the moment, but as I'm getting older (like, way too old to live with my parents!) I realise that soon I'm going to have to make the leap. And to prep myself I like to gather these little ideas for what I could do with my home. I've mostly got these little bits from magazines, and I guess they'll be pretty outdated by the time I actually come to use them!

I had a bunch of pictures knocking about my desk for this page about my tattoos :] I'm not much into super deep meanings for tattoos, more for the look of them, so this was really more about why I chose what I did and where I had it done. That Libertines flag has seriously been on my desk for over 3 years! It finally has a use, thank god for smashbooking!

These two pages are completely unrelated, the one on the left is about the staff party I went to in January, it was one of the last pages I did actually. They had this cool photobooth there and we spend some time mucking about in it XD It as a good laugh. Under each photo is a little scrap on what we got up to and the food that Face made for the party.
On the right is a page about a cross-stitch I did for my Mum. My Dad was going to visit so I asked him to take this with his as a present. It took me a long time to do as the first proper cross-stitch I've ever done so I was pretty proud of it. And I couldn't bear to throw away the pattern paper once i was done, so it was fairly obvious where it was going to end up ;p

This page was one of the very first I did- starting with all the things I already had planned for the year then I added onto it it at the bottom once I had other things booked! At the end of the year I'd gathered all these things that wouldn't go on other pages so I smashed them all together here to make a sort of collage of my year x3

This is one of the only things I did this year that got two whole spreads to itself! I am always excited about Download Festival and this year was one of the best! The weather was perfect and we just had a really great time x3 We always make a bit of a holiday of it, so the first couple of pages are about what we did Wednesday & Thursday and the others are about the festival. Only a month before we do it all again! I can't wait x3

I'll leave it at this page I think- this one I did early spring when I was pretty excited about what I was going to do in the garden x3 Again a whole bunch of magazine clippings were incorporated as ideas and I also put in a few plant tags of stuff I'd already bought to put in. I got the 'favourite things' envelope from Hobbycraft and it seems to fit in pretty well on this page, it holds in place surprisingly well too!
Hope you liked yet another detailed look into this scrapbook! Do you have a smashbook? I'd love to see it!

Project Wednesday #4 ~Travel Journals

So, with my This is Not a Book complete, you'd think I'd have time for another type of art journal, right? Well, yes and no. I think I'm going to try and focus on finishing a couple of my travel journals first.
I like keeping track. After a holiday, I tend to forget little details, and it's those kinds of things that are what you want to remember, of course. So I try to keep journals while I'm away. It usually goes that it works for a while, but then I get overwhelmed or just want to relax with everyone else for the evening so I put it to one side. I'm terrible for it. Because the longer I put it down for the less I want to go back to it.

This is the one I partially did during my trip to Japan.

My Japanese one I set up like a smashbook, decorating a lot of the pages before I went so I would just have journal and stick instax photos or leaflets in. But as ever, I got really carried away with it and each day was taking me a solid two hours before I could go to bed. I started to get really frustrated as my boyfriend watched TV (which is MASSIVELY distracting to me) and fell asleep without me. What I hoped would make it easier was possibly taking even longer than normal as I got really particular over little things instead of focussing on the major idea- taking notes to remember the holiday by.
And I do this every holiday! I have yet to learn that I can't be left alone for an hour to write while I'm on holiday, I'm either with people who are too active or I feel like I'm wasting time when I should be out exploring a new place!

This is my Ibiza Journal from 2014

So, they inevitably get put to one side as I decide I'll finish them off at home, when I get back and have all that time to myself. Which, you may guess, I don't really get. I seem to work a lot for someone who generally starts their working day at 3pm. If I have any time to myself before that I'm sleeping from late bedtimes, or eating before I have to go to work XD
Wow, I realise this sounds like a massive whinge-fest but I didn't mean it to be that way, sorry! I guess I'm trying to explain why it's been this long and I still have these journals partially completed when I really like how I began XD
So, my next project is this:
It was the Smashbook I took to Thailand in 2013, which I managed about a week and a half of out of two weeks. Sadly, it's been so long now I've forgotten a lot of the details but I still have all the photos printed out so I'm hoping to at least get them stuck down and a little bit of information around them. I also plan to do more 'progress reports' on this one, either here on video.
Is it just me, do you struggle with travel journals? Or do you have an easier way to keep track? I'd love to know!

Project Wednesday #1- La De Dah~!

I'm pretty big on wasting my time doodling. To me, doodling isn't just putting little sketches down on paper but to be doing almost anything which takes up a lot of time with relitively little to show for it; aka timesuck projects!
Recently I completed a year long project that I had been doing in tandem with my Sister, a La De Dah Smashbook type scrapbook.
Chunky!
This used to be lovely and sleek!
As you can see the cover is still plain, I don't know what it is but I really prefer it this way. If I don't have an idea I can't force it, as to me it just won't look right. I'd rather it still be a nice cardboardy colour! So far i don't have one smashbook that I've managed to decorate the cover on :x

Inside, the trend follows as the first page is also undecorated, that's a throwback from my old diaries where I seemed to think leaving the first page blank would trick people into thinking that I'd not done anything in the book at all, like they couldn't flick through the pages...

So my first actual page is about my sister and Mum, as it was a gift from my sister and she and Mum were going to do their own La De Dah books throughout the year too this seemed like a good place to start, just as following it with my own homelife seemed the logical next step. But that's pretty much where cronilogical order stops as after that I was filling in pages which I thought suited the theme I was looking to 'smash in' best.

This next page has some things my sister & Mum had sent me throughout the year, a few postcards, a couple of photos and the like :] I started to get more imaginative here with lifting pieces and frames, trying to put more effort into layering while still not hiding anything too important.

Next is my Christmas 2013 page, actually one of the first pages I did. As I got the book for xmas it only seemed right that I smash a page about it! I quite liked how this page turned out when I did it but after flicking past it for a year I'm a little worn with it!
So that's the beginning of my La De Dah smash/scrapbook! There are plenty more pages in this one, but we'll get round to those another day :] Let me know what you think!

Welcome Home

It's been a while, internets. I've missed you.
I'm feeling very inactive lately, whereas I used to spend the majority of my days on a computer I now seem to struggle to find time at all for the long browsing sessions I used to enjoy so much. In fact, past social media I'm hardly about at all and that's pretty terrible! I mean, I'd like more of a balance, I admit I maybe used to spend a bit much time looking at nothing in particular xp
I'm gearing up for some big changes in my life over the next couple of years and I would like to document it, however I'm a terrible procrastinator so it'll be interesting to see in time how I'm doing with my plans, and if I can juggle some other things alongside then all the better ;]
I have a few hobbies I don't get to play with as often as I would like, such as photography and crafting, so I'm looking to make days dedicated to them to try and make myself more focused, maybe if it works out I'll finally get a few of my many projects on the road to completion!
I'm hoping to have a bit of a posting schedule, so weekly I'm posting a couple of things at least x3 Wednesday will be focused on my crafting projects, such as Smashbooking or Journalling and Sundays will be for a review of the week in photos, to try and get those pictures out there! I also plan to have some other things pop up now and then, depending on what I'm feeling like :p
Until then though, here is my long-procrastinated introduction, and I hope to see you here again soon!
